It took me a little longer than I anticipated to finally get this posted! Oops! I came home early Monday morning and found out that one of the cats had used my bed as a litter box while I was away :( I slept on the floor and then went to IKEA when I woke up to get a new mattress and replace some of my pillows. Luckily the majority of my handmade pillows weren't in the path of destruction but it was still quite the mess to come home to! I'm just really glad that we're having nice weather here at the moment so I can keep my windows wide open to air out my room.

Anyway! While one of the cats was making a mess of my bed at home, I was off in Disney World having fun at Dapper Day. I enjoyed this SO much. I think I want to plan my vacations around Dapper Day from now on so I can participate every year!! It was so fun getting dressed up (more than usual) and seeing all of the other people who got dressed up too!

I actually ordered a vintage dress just for the occasion but when it arrived it was a tad bit too big, so I rummaged through my closet and found this hidden in the back. I don't think I've worn it in years but it was so perfect for Dapper Day! It's actually a new dress but I think it definitely looks vintage in person. It has really intricate beautiful embroidery along the hem, an attached crinoline and fantastic construction.

I'm one of those people who has a hard time wearing white because I *always* stain it immediately. Case in point -- before we even left our hotel in the morning, I already had chocolate on my gloves. And lipstick. I folded them down to try to conceal it, but by the end of the day I'd gotten more lipstick on the fingers (I forgot I was wearing the gloves when I popped gum in my mouth) so I just gave up on trying to hide it. I also spilled chocolate mousse on my dress so I guess it's a good thing I *wasn't* wearing the vintage one after all!

I'm so head over heels in love with this hat. I found it on etsy and just knew it would work perfect with my braided hairstyle! I think I might wear hats more often now, they're such a beautiful accessory but it hardly ever occurs to me to wear them!

Kyle only brought one backpack on the train so he couldn't pack his suit (he likes getting dressed up just as much as I do!) but he brought a dress shirt and tie instead. He's actually wearing basketball shorts and sneakers here but he made me take the picture from the waist up.

I also met up with my friend Sally who had the most adorable Disneybound Mary Poppins Dapper Day outfit! I wish I had gotten a close-up photo of her hat, it was adorable! I'm going to write more about this later, but Sally published her first book this month and it is SO SO good!! It's available as a Kindle download on amazon here and I highly recommend it!

Yesterday we went to Animal Kingdom and I got to see some flamingos! I think they might be my favorite animal (aside from cats, of course!) They're just so pink and pretty, and I love how they stand on one leg to sleep, with their head turned backwards and buried in their feathers.

It's amazing how fast this vacation flew by. Tomorrow night I'll be on my way home already! I am looking forward to seeing my kitties though. It's funny how I get so used to seeing them that when I'm away I constantly mistake little lumps of clothing or objects laying on the floor for cats. My mom's purse looked SO much like Chloe the other day! I didn't have my glasses on, so that probably accounts for the striking similarity, but it was still pretty cool ;)

Today is Dapper Day so I'm about to get all dolled up and head over to Hollywood Studios! Kyle packed a shirt and tie in his suitcase but forgot to bring dress pants so he's wearing basketball shorts and sneakers with this dress clothes lol!

This dress has little dots on it that look like those candy drops that come on strips of paper. I love those! I thought it was fitting then to take my picture outside of the Main Street candy shoppe in the Magic Kingdom :) Although I guess you can't really tell based on how I chose the backdrop haha! I think I was more interested in whatever background had less people swarming behind me than whatever looked most like a candy store..

My brother is actually coming down to stay with us for the rest of the trip! He'll be here in about an hour and stay for the next 3 days. I think it'll be fun having him along. Although I might end up with Kyle-fatigue since we're also going on a mini-road trip at the beginning of October lol :)

I got a few comments the last couple days mentioning Dapper Day and I just wanted to say I am going and I already have an outfit prepared! yay! I am SO excited about it!! I found out Dapper Day coincided with my trip a few days after I booked it and I was over the moon happy. The funny thing is that I have a bunch of really pretty vintage dresses that I never get to wear and I ended up going with something new after all. I have some vintage accessories though so I guess it evens out. I'll definitely take outfit photos and post them on Sunday!! :)

I know what you're thinking -- "how did she bring her bedroom and her cat to Florida?!" but actually I took this picture on Sunday, before we left. Yesterday we set out for the airport around 4:30am and then went straight to Disney World when we arrived at our hotel. I was going to take a shower but I accidentally packed all my shower accoutrements in my checked baggage which hadn't showed up in my room yet. So I just went to the Magic Kingdom a tired, sloppy, slightly dirty mess. I still had an absolute blast but I'm not sharing any photos just yet ;)

Last night we went to the Disney World halloween party and it was so much fun! I dressed up like a cat (it was actually a horrible last minute costume but of course my default would be cat.) I had wanted to dress as Mary Poppins but I thought guests weren't allowed to have Disney character costumes (so you don't get confused with the paid actors) but it turned out like 50% of the women there were in full princess regalia. Darn it! Well, at least I know for next time.

As usual for me, so far I'm just obsessed with the food. The quinoa salad at Be Our Guest was phenomenal (definitely trying to recreate it at home when I get back) and I was reunited with my beloved Dole Whip in Adventureland. *sigh* Today we're off to Epcot where tons of scrumptious International cuisine awaits me. Hooray!

Oh, and I did upgrade to an annual pass! Thanks for the advice in my last post!! :)

On Saturday I spent the day in New York with Polly from The Littlest Polly! We went to the Museum of Modern Art about an hour before closing but somehow managed to see practically every floor! We had so much fun! Polly is a huge Andy Warhol fan and got to see a bunch of his works, and I was gawking in disbelief at some of the really famous paintings they had on display (Starry Night?!?) I was an art history major in college but I hardly ever find time to go to museums anymore, so this was a rare treat.

I just had such a fun time. I'm always nervous when I'm meeting internet friends for the first time in real life, but Polly is so incredibly sweet and friendly that I forgot about being nervous pretty much instantly. I always thought she seemed like one of the most awesome girls on the internet and she's even more awesome in person! I can't wait to hang out again :)

I look like such a dork in basically every photo from Saturday but oh well!  My dress is an old one from Romwe, shoes are urban outfitters, belt is from another dress and the glasses are from firmoo. The tote bag is my Hypatia bag from sweet and lovely.

Polly is so sweet and SO fun! I'm a little (ok a lot) jealous of her posing instincts and ridiculous eye for color pairing. If you aren't already familiar with her blog, get over there right now. Seriously just skip the rest of this post. GO.

Looking like a dweeb next to Starry Night.

See what I mean with the cute posing? ah!

I wore this last Thursday in Utica, NY. I needed to get a new piece of luggage so we stopped at a Big Lots as we were leaving the city. It just happened to have a really pretty (in my opinion) greyish blue wall that seemed perfect for taking pictures. I'm so used to taking outfit photos in my bedroom that I really get excited about scouting backgrounds when I take them outside! Oh, and the Big Lots ended up having this perfect purple and cream colored luggage that was marked down from its retail price of $288 (!!!) to only $55. Pretty exciting.

Also, in Utica we stopped for lunch at Swifty's Pub and Restaurant and I had the best burger ever. They have a burger on their menu called the Buffalo Burger, which is a breaded, deep fried burger topped with buffalo sauce. I asked if they could substitute the beef burger for a veggie one and they obliged. I also asked if they could switch the sauce to BBQ since I much prefer that, and it was out of this world good! When you're a vegetarian there aren't too many greasy artery-clogging options besides french fries and dessert. And that's definitely a good thing in the big scheme of things, lol. I do love eating healthy and try to make good food choices whenever I can... but this was a really nice treat ;)

On Tuesday and Wednesday I got to stay with one of my best friends, Sarah. We've actually known each other for almost five years but didn't get to meet in person until this week! I had SO much fun with her and her family, it definitely made my bout of homesickness worth it. I think getting to meet the three other friends in our little BFF group (Casey, Millie and Nicola) is my incentive for following through on my road trip :) Next year we're all going to meet up together for the TCM Film Festival in California and I can't wait!! :D

Sarah and her family showed me and Kyle around Buffalo and we had a blast! I was so sad when it was time to leave! I wish Buffalo wasn't so far away from where I live or I'd visit like every weekend if they'd have me! Really though, they were so welcoming (and awesome!!) and helped me feel a lot less homesick :)

Today we're back in Syracuse again, and then I think we're going to head for either Vermont or New Hampshire. We're definitely winging it lol

ps. On Tuesday morning we did the Maid of the Mist! Kyle has the photos on his phone still but when I finally get them on my computer I'll post some. I'm going to be very stingy with my use of the word "epic" now that I've been on that boat. Seriously, nothing else comes even close to that amount of epicness.

Yesterday started out pretty terrible. Just a bunch of things went wrong and it was an awful start to the trip. Things improved immensely though, when we finally ended up in Canada at Niagara Falls and got to see one of the prettiest locations on earth in beautiful weather with rainbows all over the place! It was really breathtaking.

Today we're heading over to Buffalo (shuffling off, if you will) and I get to see one of my best friends so I'm pretty excited about that!! :) After New York we're supposed to go to Vermont but honestly I'm having second thoughts about continuing on the trip. I always want to be really adventurous and do fun spontaneous things, but when it gets down to it I'm really just a terrible homebody and get so homesick SO fast. I hate that this is such an ingrained character trait -- that I make life changing plans and then always end up backing out of them. This trip should be SO awesome. I really, really want to see all 50 states and the idea of working on the road seemed so thrilling to me when I was planning it! But now that I'm living my plans, I just want to be home.

I'll give it another couple of days before I decide if I want to head back to NJ. Who knows, maybe the travel bug will finally hit me and I'll have to be dragged back home kicking and screaming...

Right now I'm sitting at a rest stop in Syracuse, NY, on my way to Niagara Falls! So far everything is going smoothly and I'm really enjoying the scenery while we drive. Me and my brother have spent most of the trip building a playlist on my ipod, a difficult task since we have wildly different taste in music. But we seem to find common ground when Frank Sinatra songs come on, so he'll probably be crooning through the speakers through most of our vacation!

Tomorrow will be the first time I try packing orders and doing business on the road, so I really hope it goes over well! I can't wait to show you guys the pictures of the mobile workstation I made in my car trunk. I spent most of Saturday just sitting outside starting at it because I was so proud lol ;D

Also YES I am wearing jeans in this picture. I KNOW. I ordered and returned about five pair online before finding these... I really wanted a pair for the trip that I could wear on days that would mostly be spent in the car. These have proved to be super comfortable so far and they aren't riding down like all the jeans I've owned in the past. I always have a hard time finding denim that fits my small-waist-huge-hips ratio but these are working great! I got them from modcloth, here. The shoes are from Payless and the bag is vintage :)

I'll try to blog as often as the wi-fi gods will allow, but I'll definitely be posting on instagram a lot if you want to follow along with my road trip adventures!

The first place we stopped when we got to Scranton was the Steamtown Mall. It's mentioned in The Office quite a few times but we were there for more practical reasons -- Kyle forgot to pack a shirt and tie in his suitcase. While we were there, though, we found the original Scranton welcome sign that's shown in the opening credits! I read somewhere that they had moved it off the highway and into the mall so it would be easier (and less dangerous) for tourists to take pictures with it!

We took a LOT of pictures in Scranton so it took me a while to narrow down which ones to share, and even then I still ended up with 40 for this post. Yikes! I decided to do one of those "read more after the jump!" things so my blog won't take 200 years to load :)

Our first event was a cocktail party on Friday night. I wore my favorite lace dress, a black bow belt, black tights and black flats. I loved this outfit so much! On Saturday we attended a behind the scenes Q&A panel discussion, a parade and the farewell event at the baseball stadium so I went with something a little more casual. I wore one of my Dunder Mifflin shirts, a red button-up skirt and my favorite red flats. I also wore three of my wooden Office brooches (Creed, Kevin and Dwight.)

Outfit 1: dress - modcloth | belt - f21 | shoes - asos | brooch - sweet and lovely
Outfit 2: shirt - amazon | skirt - modcloth | shoes - asos | bag - asos

At the cocktail party on Friday night we were supposed to meet most of the cast but seven of them missed their connecting flight to Scranton and weren't able to make it. We did get to see Kevin, Erin, Phyllis and Meredith though! The fans kind of swarmed around them and me and Kyle aren't very pushy so we didn't get to meet anyone at the event. It was still fun though, and we got really neat gift bags to take home with a bunch of really awesome Scranton & Office themed stuff.

When we were walking back into our hotel, guess who was coming out! So we actually got to meet Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) after all :D Also, this is when we realized that all of the cast was staying at our hotel which was PRETTY DARN AWESOME. We stayed at the Radisson Lackawanna Station hotel, which is actually an old turn of the century train station! It's absolutely beautiful (you can kind of understand why Michael Scott thought doing business there would appear "snooty" ;)

After our chance encounter with Kevin we decided to go out to eat. One of the workers at our hotel recommended a little diner called Chick's, which turned out to be really neat! They had out of this world home fries (seriously, out of this world!!!) and those individual juke-box things that let you pay to play a song in the diner. I found Twilight Time by The Platters on the list and probably tortured most of the other guests by playing it five times in a row. I just really love that song :)

The next morning we attended a Behind the Scenes Q&A with some of the crew. It included Paul Lieberstein (Toby!) and Greg Daniels, the executive producer and creator of the American version of The Office. Everyone on the panel was so nice and down to earth, and they had so many fun stories! I really hope the whole thing will be on the season 9 dvd so every Office fan can hear it, not just people who were lucky enough to attend.

They also showed us a couple videos, including one of the storage facility where they are keeping the props and costumes. They saved EVERYTHING. The index cards that Michael put on everyone's forehead in Diversity Day, the yogurt lid medals and the paper doves from the office olympics.. seriously everything. One of the moderators asked what their plans are for the props and they hinted at maybe having a museum someday. Be still my heart!

The next event was the parade in downtown Scranton! All of the cast members had their phones out taking pictures of the fans, which was really cute! I'd love to see all of the photos they took! When Jim and Pam drove by it was like Cinderella and her Prince in a Disney parade. They are sitcom royalty, right?!

At the end of the parade route they had a stage set up where all of the cast members performed and gave little thank you speeches. Since I'm really short and we weren't first in line, we ended up standing on a monument on campus so I could see the stage. It was actually a really great view even though we weren't up close! (Kyle has a real camera with good lenses, hence the amazing pictures here. My iphone just didn't really cut it on this trip lol)

Rainn Wilson gave the beginning of "Dwight's speech" -- "Blood alone moves the wheels of history!" It was soo cool hearing him in character in person!

Creed sang two songs from his new album! He's really good! Later on somebody asked him where the fake Creed ends and the real Creed begins and he replied, "probably in jail" lol!

It was so cute to see Ellie Kemper and Jenna Fischer whispering on stage! Me and Kyle were pretending that they were gossiping about Angela and Dwight ;)

Jenna Fischer did air-high-fives with the crowd! It was the sweetest thing ever!! I'm usually not very comfortable participating in crowd activities (clapping, yelling, etc.) but I was like a totally different person on this trip! I was totally air-high-fiving with everyone else, and so excited to be doing it!

The girls from The Office singing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"!!

Andy Buckley (David Wallace) gave a rousing rendition of "Suck It," the jingle (if you could call it that?) for his character's invention on the show. I'm a big David Wallace fan so that was pretty fun! I loved that he had on a Suck It sweatshirt too, lol!

At the end of the show, Rainn Wilson called up creator Greg Daniels to the front and said that he really truly is the "World's Best Boss." CUE THE TEARS. I had a hard time keeping my composure all day but at that point I just totally lost it. Oh! Also! I met Greg Daniels during the parade!! I look terrible in the picture so it's for family eyes only but he was so incredibly sweet. I thanked him for taking the photo with me and he said "Thank you! I'm just surprised anyone would want a picture with me." I'd think everybody would! Without him we wouldn't have the show.

Later that night we attended the farewell event at PNC baseball field. I think the paper said the next day that there were 10,000 fans there!!

Originally the scheduled guests were Craig Robinson (Daryl), Rainn Wilson (Dwight), Ellie Kemper (Erin), Oscar Nunez (Oscar), Phyllis Smith (Phyllis), Creed Bratton (Creed), Paul Lieberstein (Toby), John Krasinski (Jim), Jenna Fischer (Pam), Brain Baumgartner (Kevin), Kate Flannery (Meredith) and Andy Buckley (David Wallace). And that was more than enough for me.

But then they announced what I thought was impossible -- Steve Carell was there. MICHAEL SCOTT!!! ahhhh!

Kyle took a picture of my reaction when they announced he was the surprise guest. I look like a complete buffoon but I think this is the only way you can fully grasp how excited I was lol..

I was crying, screaming, shaking... just SO excited. Michael Scott is basically my favorite character in any tv show or movie, ever. I just love him to death.

Andy Buckley took the microphone and gave "exit interviews" to each of the cast members. It was really sweet and so funny! You could tell that they all get along and really love each other. I think the photo above was taken after Andy Buckley asked Jenna Fischer what would be one quality that Jim has that she wished her real life husband shared. John Krasinski looked like "oh I'm interested in hearing the answer to this one" lol! It was so cute!

A little later they took questions from the audience and they picked me! I had a few minutes to prepare, so I asked the guy (who was the organizer of the event) if I could make a statement instead of asking a question, and he let me. I had promised Millie that if I had the opportunity I'd tell Creed that she loved him. Millie got me to watch The Office a few years ago so without her I wouldn't even be a fan! I figured it was the least I could do to say thank you :) So when it was my turn, I (incredibly nervously!) pronounced Millie's love! Creed said he loved her back. It was so fun but I was so so nervous that I'd mess up!

After the Q&A was over the entire cast took a bow. Goosebumps!!

Then they announced that in a few minutes there would be a fireworks show. I'm usually not very big on fireworks so I asked Kyle if he wanted to leave, but he was still taking some pictures of the cast members as they were leaving the field so we hung around. I'm SO glad we did because it was the most amazing fireworks show of my life. If you're a big fan of The Office this will probably give you goosebumps..

The fireworks started with The Office theme song blaring from the speakers, then continued while various audio clips and songs from the show played. I couldn't stop crying the entire time, it was almost magical. I feel like such a dork admitting this since "it's a tv show!!" but it is so important to me, I can't even describe it. It was just amazing.

When we got back to the hotel, there was Andy Buckley! Our mom's maiden name is Buckley, so Kyle told him that and he said "oh really? what's her name?" and when Kyle replied "Judy" Andy said "ohhhhh, cousin Judy!" It was really cute :) We immediately called our mom to tell her (she's a fan of the show too!) Now if only he WAS our cousin and we could hang out with him all the time, haha!

And now this was probably THE most exciting part of the whole trip. A whole bunch of weird things happened to lead up to this that I won't go into, but we ended up behind the bar at the Backyard Ale House along with the cast of The Office while they were tending bar. We were there for almost two hours I think, and it was just one of the best times of my whole life.

Fun fact! This was actually my first time in a bar. I'm 26 and the first time I'm ever in a bar I'm there with the cast of The Office. Not bad, lol! ;D

Seriously, this was just unreal. UNREAL, I TELL YOU!!

Me and Rainn Wilson! I had on my wooden Dwight brooch and he said he liked it, so I gave it to him. He wasn't sure what to do with it so I said he could turn it into a magnet, but now I realize I never said that I made it so he probably thought I was just some really weird girl giving him my jewelry. Well... I was some really weird girl giving him my jewelry I guess.

He was really sweet though and took it anyway :) I saw he posted a picture of someone with Dwight's face tattooed on their arm so at least I wasn't the most crazed fan of the day I guess ;D

And then of course there's this. sigh.
