I know I usually post clothing and accessories for wishlist wednesday but pretty frocks aren't my only weakness -- I am a huge office supply nerd. If someone was trying to impress me, they'd get a lot farther with a pack of sharpies or .07 lead mechanical pencils than they would with silver and gold!

My latest office obsession is le pens. I've had a purple one for years, but I only started using it frequently the last few months and I'm so hooked. They're like fine-point sharpies except they don't smell and the color assortment is beau-tee-ful!! I stocked up on a few at the art supply store this week but they didn't have even close to the selection that amazon has. This complete set of all 18 colors just went straight to the top of my wishlist!

Today I'm off to New York to spend the day with Amber and my mom! I see lots of shopping in our future ;D If anyone has any tips for great vintage shops (not in Brooklyn) or fantastic non-chain restaurants let me know in the comments? I've only gone to NYC for business or as a very touristy tourist (Empire State Bldg, Rockefeller Center, etc.) so I haven't had a chance to explore much yet and I'd love visit some of the places that make it such a special city :)

I've added some new items to Flapper Doodle over the last week! I always seem to do this in spurts... I'll go months without adding anything new, and then boom! 4 new products!

First is something that's been on my to do list for over a year -- personalized Save the Date cards! Every single time that I sell the print of this couple a little light bulb flickers in my brain that says "make the cards!" but I kept putting it off, until this weekend. They're available pre-printed in packs of 10, or as a digital file that you can print from home.

My second-biggest seller is my personalized bridesmaid cards, so I thought it would be a neat idea to make pendants too! They can be little "thank you" keepsakes, or they can be used to ask the question. The hair color, hair style, skin color and dress color are all customized as well as the text on the card. They're available here.

My biggest seller is my BFF merchandise, mainly the pendant sets -- I've had quite a few requests to change those into earrings, though, so I decided to just make them a staple in my shop now. I love when customer requests turn into new products... sometimes they come up with great ideas that I never would have thought of myself! :) They're available here!

Oh my gosh more pendants ;D These are custom pendants -- basically you can choose any illustration from my shop and I'll turn it into a pendant! They're available here.

As always, if you're thinking about buying anything you can take 10% off with the code BRILLIANT :)

For the longest time (okay, for like a couple weeks) I was obsessed with finding a cute lilac dress. I searched for lilac, purple and lavender on every website I could think of! Then I finally found this one, and it was love at first sight. It's lace on top with a swooshy full skirt on the bottom, and it is the exact color I was looking for. I anxiously awaited its arrival but when it finally came, I couldn't figure out what to wear it with. It seemed like nothing -- and I mean, nothing -- went with it. I think I tried on every cardigan I owned and every color just looked weird and hideous.

Then I saw my leopard cardigan nestled in the back of my sweater drawer and thought "oh, what the heck?" and tried it on. Voila! I love it! It's such a weird combination... I never would have thought of it if basically every single other sweater I own looked so terrible with the dress lol! :)

Last week I had SO much to do my head was spinning, but I actually got (mostly) caught up and got to spend the whole weekend (mostly) goofing off. It was magnificent!

I finally had some time to do a little sewing... my mending pile was getting pretty huge! I usually have to shorten my dress straps by a couple inches (including this one... 2" came off) so they don't fall off my shoulders. I also usually hem anything longer than 36", although lately I've been testing out wearing some longer lengths. But I still think I look like I'm playing dress up with my mom's clothes if the hem is closer to my ankle than my knee ;D

ps. The bird print on this dress is beyond adorable... they look like little animated birds from a Disney animation! You can view them closer here.

I haven't done one of these in a while! I swear, almost every Saturday I think "ooh, I should schedule a slumber party post for tomorrow!" and then I don't! I think it's mainly because the playlist part is daunting (as I mentioned earlier this week, I usually get hooked on one song and then don't want to listen to anything else) so I just decided to leave that part out and do music-less posts. Feel free to crank up some Spice Girls basically anytime you're enjoying* a slumber party sunday though! ;D

I made these once before and they're so tasty! I like cake a lot more than ice cream, so to me this is the absolute perfect kind of ice cream cone! :D You just pour cupcake mix into flat-bottom ice cream cones, stand the cones up on a baking sheet and cook according to the box directions. Super simple, and they're ideal for a slumber party treat! I can't remember where I originally saw this idea (I think it might have been Parade magazine like 5 years ago?) but I got the image here.

Not too many movies make you wish your house was haunted, but this one does. At least if Rex Harrison was the ghost! ;D It's a fantastic romantic ghost story and one of my all time favorites! It's kind of funny, I originally wanted to use The Solitaire Man as my movie for this post, but I can't find it for sale or streaming anywhere online at all (I recorded it from TCM) so I went with this readily-available favorite instead. One of the actors is Edna Best, wife of Herbert Marshall who starred in The Solitaire Man! I thought that was a funny coincidence :)

Anyway! You can watch The Ghost and Mrs Muir on netflix here, or buy it here. And if you ever get a chance to see The Solitaire Man, definitely watch it! It's a really good caper! :)

Truth: What is the most far fetched lie you ever told that someone actually believed?
Dare: Wear your clothes backwards for the rest of the day!

*I couldn't think of a better word that would be less presumptuous, but I do really hope that anyone who reads these does enjoy them! :)
