I am so, so thankful to have a successful small business (knock on wood!) but O.M.G. am I worn out from the Christmas rush! My brother hasn't helped me as much this year as he used to, and I'm not quite comfortable hiring someone to help me pack orders in my bedroom lol. So I've been making, printing, packing, shipping and emailing from morning until the wee small hours. I actually feel guilty going to sleep each night because there's so much left to be done. And we still haven't even baked cookies or written out Christmas cards yet. As grateful as I am, I'm really looking forward to putting my shop on vacation next week and enjoying some calm days with my family :)

For the last year or two I've been obsessively collecting vintage bedding on etsy. Usually pillowcases and fat quarters (seriously, search for "vintage fat quarter sheet" on etsy and prepare to get lost in the awesomeness) so I treasure those little snippets of mid-century design like you wouldn't believe. I'm so hesitant to use them since they're soon going to be in short supply. I hate the idea of these gorgeous colors and patterns disappearing over time, which they're bound to do as they're used up for craft projects and quilts and (in my case) pillows. And that's where I got this idea -- digital patterns inspired by vintage bedding.

I poured over my collection of swatches and picked some of my absolute favorites to base my first batch of patterns on. About 200 hours later (or at least it seems that way) Presto! A collection of 10 digital designs for my first vintage bedding paper pack! Hooray! The kit is available in my Kitschy Digitals shop here! It includes all of the designs as 12" x 12" papers at 300dpi.

I also uploaded the designs to my society6 store, so they're available as laptop covers, pillows, iphone cases, etc. I especially love how they look on the iphone cases!! These three are my personal favorites!

If I ever lost my purse, whoever found it would definitely be able to deduct three things about me: I really love the color pink, Hello Kitty, and cats. ;)

Right now I'm toting around this super awesome cat-shaped bag from OASAP. The pouch on the back is just big enough to carry everything I need -- my wallet (from the Sanrio store in NYC) my sunglasses (from Sweet and Lovely) my glasses case (from Epcot Japan) with my pink glasses inside (from Coastal) Trident gum, hot pink Baby Lips lip balm and my iphone (Hello Kitty case also from Epcot Japan!)

ps. Sweet and Lovely was down yesterday because storenvy was doing maintenance (perfect timing for a shop update blog post, right? facepalm.) but it's back up again today if anyone actually wanted to check out the new stuff. Just fyi :)

I added some new items to the sweet and lovely shop last night! Just some more cute wooden brooches -- a cat, a tulip, a tooth and a restock on the dinosaurs! rawr! Pretty soon the fox bags, carousel necklaces and hot air balloon necklaces will all be back in the shop too! Something to keep in mind when you get cash for Christmas maybe? ;)

Also I only have enough supplies left to make two more Book Fair kits, and then they'll be out of stock. They're currently on sale for $10. I'm really not sure if I'll be restocking them again so if you were interested in getting one, now would be the time! The whole book fair experiment sort of fell flat, but it's still one of my favorite projects ever. I'm not sure yet if/when I'll decide to restock them but I do think I'd like to at some point... even if they just sit there in the shop and never sell, I think I like the idea of them being *out there* .. available just in case anyone happens to like the idea as much as I did :)

ps. Storenvy was supposed to be down late last night into early this morning but it looks like their maintenance is taking longer than expected and as of 1:30pm they're still down. argh! Hopefully if you wanted to purchase anything or take a look around, you'll remember and come back later tonight when the site is back up? :)

Every once in a while I really, really, really love what I'm wearing. This was one of those days. I was actually disappointed when it was time to go to bed because it meant changing, and I debated sleeping in this -- tights, belt and all. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll be wearing it in my dreams and it'll be like I never switched into flannel pj bottoms and a sweatshirt.

The dress is a new acquisition, and I'm absolutely head over heels in love with it! It's a beautiful rusty orange, and it's really thick, something I love in a winter dress. I picked up the tights at Target the other day, in that section where they have them rolled up into little bundles for $5 a pop. They're usually all footless it seems, but this time they weren't, and they had so many wonderful colors too! AND they're surprisingly amazing quality for being $5. I'm so used to tights that slouch throughout the day or ones that look really saturated until you put them on and then they stretch out so much that they lose their color. These maintained their pretty hue AND stayed nice and taut all day long. Score!

Oh also while I was at Target I picked up some more Christmas decorations! I got some garland for my purple tree (you can see it behind me, isn't it even prettier now?!) as well as a little USB powered mini-tree for my computer table and some other goodies. My room is getting so Christmasy, it's wonderful! :D

Well, not really. I haven't done an outfit picture in my room in about a month and it's not so much like riding a bicycle. I think part of it is because I still feel sort of sick (and sickly) so taking pictures of myself to post online doesn't feel too natural at the moment ;p I took about 20 and then just gave up and settled on this one lol

At least I'm dressed though! I spent WAY more time in pajamas the last two weeks than I'd care to admit. I do love pjs, but only when I change into them at night and they signify the end of work & beginning of cozy. When they're worn nonstop for days on end they lose their appeal for me.

I'm finally starting to recover from the cold from hell. I can't believe I've been really sick twice already and it isn't even officially winter yet. yikes! I'm loading up on vitamin c and hoping I can stay healthy for a while. To lift my spirits I started decking my room out for Christmas! I spend so much time in here, it's nice to be surrounded with holiday decorations to make me feel some Christmas cheer while I work!

I got this purple tree at Michaels this year. It's so beautiful, and I'd never seen a purple tree before... and I had a 50% off coupon, so bringing it home was a no-brainer! ;) Now I just need to find some tiny pastel ornaments to finish it off! I haven't been to Target yet since they put out their Christmas decorations so I'm hoping maybe they'll have something that will work. If I can't find anything there I might just DIY some!

My beloved white shelf actually broke last week, so I had to buy a new one :( It's almost exactly the same but the layout of the shelves is different from my old one, with a giant display space in the middle. At first I was a bit disappointed because I liked the old layout so much but I'm starting to really love this. I think I might make my own putz village to display there each Christmas! In the meantime though I just made a little Christmas light garland from craft store bulbs and embroidery thread!

In Disney I picked up three of these Santa hat ornaments, hoping desperately that they'd fit on my bobble heads when I got home, and they do!!! Hands down my favorite decoration in my bedroom.

I got this little tree at Target last year, along with the tree topper and the snow girl under my lamp. The gnome figurine was another Disney purchase, in Epcot Germany. And every year I switch out my "pink champagne for dancing" record that I normally have on display for my Bing Crosby Christmas record :)

I saw these lollipops at Michaels and knew they would be perfect for my ikea cabinet! I'm really tempted to keep them up all year long, or at least find something similar since that big white space sometimes drives me crazy. Must. Have. Clutter. Everywhere. At. All. Times. ;p

Finally I put some snowflakes and lollipops on my string hanging thing (what is it called?) and switched out an embroidery for a vintage plastic santa head :)

I only started decorating my room about two years ago so my assortment of Christmas decorations is pretty sparse but I like that I'm starting to build my own collection!
